KP Energy and GE India to develop 300 MW Wind Project in Gujarat

KP Energy and GE India have come into an agreement for the development of a 300 MW Wind project in the Kutch region of Gujarat.

The project will involve the installation of 120 wind turbine generators each of 2.5 MW load capacity. The wind power project will be connected with the interstate transmission system (ISTS) network in Kutch. And according to KP Energy, “This is in furtherance to the term sheet agreement signed up between the parties.”

KP Energy is responsible for the development activities of the project which will include resource mobilization, lands and permits acquisition, statutory approvals, and route surveys. So far, the company has received payments of ₹284.5 million in tandem with the above progress. The project is planned to achieve full commissioning by September 2019.

KP Energy provides one-stop solutions to the complete spectrum of services for wind farm developments, they also develop wind power projects of utility scale providing end-to-end solutions. Just over a month ago the company announced that it will add over 1,231 MW worth of wind capacity within the next two years to its existing 205.8 MW of wind capacity projects.

Although, the project still might have to face a few roadblocks following the recent trend of issues that the state of Gujarat has had with wind project developments. Recently, the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) suspended their tender for 500 MW of wind projects in the state due to non-supplier favourable provisions of the Request for Selection (RfS).
