NueGo Marks Three Years as India’s Intercity Electric Bus Brand

NueGo employs over 5,000 people, including 150+ women and over 10 transgender individuals. It has launched India’s first all-women intercity bus service, with both passengers and crew being women.

NueGo, the intercity electric bus brand by GreenCell Mobility, has completed three years of operations, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable intercity travel. The company operates over 300 electric buses across more than 120 cities, with over 600 daily departures.

In three years, NueGo’s fleet has travelled 2,765 million kilometres, avoiding over 261 million kilograms of CO2 emissions, says the company statement. This reduction is equivalent to planting 3.53 million trees.

Infrastructure Development

To minimise downtime, the company has installed over 100 high-performance superchargers with capacities of 180 kW and 240 kW, enabling a full bus charge in two hours.

Women’s Safety in Intercity Travel

A feature of the NueGo bus transit system is its Women’s Safety focus. NueGo employs women as coach captains and cabin hosts to create a secure, relatable travel environment for female passengers. It also launched what it calls India’s first all-women intercity bus service, with both guests and crew being women.

The safety measures include a 24×7 women’s helpline (1800 267 3366), high-definition CCTV surveillance, real-time GPS tracking, mandatory driver breathalyser tests, and an AI-enabled Driver Monitoring System. Reserved Pink Seats ensure women are seated next to other women, complemented by clean and hygienic mid-point stops, all under constant monitoring by a 24×7 Command Control Centre, the official statement says.
