Pharma company Nutraplus finalises CBG project site in South Gujarat
The Mumbai based company is currently in advanced discussions to award the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Biofics, a specialist in biogas infrastructure.
Mumbai based pharma company Nutraplus India Ltd has announced to have finalised a 3.5-acre leased site in South Gujarat for the development of a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant. The company has marked a key milestone in it’s expansion into the renewable energy sector with this CBG project. The project is expected to strengthen the company’s presence in the waste-to-energy segment while supporting India’s growing focus on sustainable fuel production.
The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing with the BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Nutraplus is currently in advanced discussions to award the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Biofics, a specialist in biogas infrastructure. The company said the turnkey approach is expected to streamline project execution, minimise implementation risks and accelerate commissioning.
South Gujarat was selected by Nutraplus for the project due to its abundant availability of feedstock required for biogas production, including municipal solid waste, agricultural residue, forest biomass, sugarcane waste, and animal husbandry and cattle waste. The proximity of these resources is expected to reduce transportation costs while ensuring a reliable supply of raw materials for continuous plant operations.
The company has opted to develop the facility on leased land, reflecting a capital-efficient strategy that preserves liquidity while advancing its renewable energy ambitions. Although Nutraplus did not disclose the project’s investment value, production capacity or commissioning timeline, the combination of secured land, feedstock availability and an experienced EPC partner provides a strong foundation for the project’s implementation.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader push to expand domestic compressed biogas production and could enable Nutraplus to benefit from government support for waste-to-energy projects, including opportunities under the Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) initiative.
The regulatory filing was signed by Managing Director Mukesh Naik, reaffirming the company’s commitment to executing the project through a reliable engineering partner. Further announcements are expected once the EPC contract is finalised and project timelines are confirmed.
