Organic Recycling Systems (ORSL) to build CBG plants for BPCL for Rs 167 crore

The contracts pertain to organic municipal solid waste-based CBG plants in Mysuru (Karnataka) and Raipur (Chhattisgarh) with capacity of 5-TPD each.

Solapur Bioenergy Systems Private Ltd (SBESPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mumbai based Organic Recycling Systems Ltd (ORSL), has secured two Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operation and Maintenance (EPCOM) contracts worth a combined Rs 167.30 crore from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for setting up compressed biogas (CBG) plants in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.

According to the regulatory filing of ORSL, the contracts pertain to organic municipal solid waste-based CBG plants in Mysuru (Karnataka) and Raipur (Chhattisgarh). The Mysuru project, awarded on September 3, 2026, is valued at Rs 85.56 crore. The CBG projects will have an estimated capacity of 5 tonnes per day (TPD).

ORSL held that the Raipur project, awarded on September 4, is worth around Rs 81.74 crore, with an estimated capacity of 4.8 TPD. Together, the projects will add nearly 9.8 TPD of CBG processing capacity.

Both projects are scheduled for execution within 15 months of the Letter of Acceptance (LOA). Mechanical completion is targeted within 12 months, followed by five years of operations and maintenance (O&M) from commissioning.

Pankaj Tanwar, CEO – Bioenergy, ORSL, said, “These are not just EPC contracts. They include five-year O&M responsibilities, which means BPCL is entrusting us with the long-term performance of these plants. This is exactly the model we have been building toward, from project builder to long-term operational partner.

ORSL said the latest contracts strengthen its growing engagement with public-sector oil marketing companies. ORSL recently secured the renewal of its O&M contract for the Gorakhpur CBG plant with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

At the beginning of this year, ORSL officially was empanelled as the ‘Execution Partner’ with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to jointly develop CBG projects across India.

Founded in 2008, ORSL is a CleanTech and decarbonisation company listed on the BSE SME platform. It has research partnerships with IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur and plans to move to the BSE Main Board by October 2026.
