India’s Maiden Integrated Green Hydrogen, 2G Ethanol & API project Planned In Himachal
As per the MoC signed, the integrated project with green energy generation will be built with an investment of Rs 1,400 crore.
In a significant move toward advancing green energy and industrial growth in the state, Himachal Pradesh is set to establish India’s first integrated manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Green Hydrogen, and 2G Ethanol. The State Government has signed a Memorandum of Commitment (MoC) with Spray Engineering Devices Limited from Chandigarh to develop the project in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) area of Solan district.
As per the MoC the integrated project with green energy generation will be built with an investment of Rs 1,400 crore.
In its initial phase, the project will require 30 MW of green hydrogen, with plans to scale up to 50 MW in the coming years. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to generate employment for approximately 1,000 local youth.
This project aligns with Himachal Pradesh’s vision of becoming a clean energy hub while fostering growth in pharmaceutical manufacturing and biofuel production. By focusing on green hydrogen and 2G ethanol, the facility aims to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable industrial ecosystem in the region.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who attended the MoC signing, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh India’s leading Green Energy State by March 2026. Sukhu held, “We are taking decisive steps to promote clean energy, attract major investments, and drive sustainable development.”
Emphasizing the state’s growing focus on green hydrogen, the Chief Minister highlighted an ongoing collaboration with Oil India Limited to establish a one MW green hydrogen plant in Nalagarh. He noted that the upcoming integrated facility in Solan would further solidify Himachal Pradesh’s position as a frontrunner in the green energy sector. He also urged the company to complete the project within a year.
The MoC was signed by Dr. Yunus, Director of Industries, on behalf of the state government, while Vivek Verma, Managing Director of Spray Engineering Devices Limited, represented the company.
