Vardhan Group secures EPC contract for 10 TPD CBG plant in Gorakhpur
Under the turnkey contract, Vardhan Group will provide comprehensive engineering, equipment and infrastructure solutions for the facility.
Vardhan Group has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement to develop a 10-tonnes-per-day (TPD) compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The project aims to strengthen clean energy infrastructure in eastern Uttar Pradesh, with commissioning scheduled for June–July 2027.
Under the turnkey contract, Vardhan Group will provide comprehensive engineering, equipment and infrastructure solutions for the facility. The scope includes an advanced membrane-based gas purification system designed to maximise methane recovery and a biochemical scrubber system for hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) removal.
The company will also undertake pipeline design and the fabrication of digesters and mixing tanks, which are essential components of the biogas production process. The facility is envisioned as a benchmark project for sustainable energy generation in the region.
Meanwhile, Vardhan Biogas Pvt. Ltd. is already operating a biogas facility in the Kumarbagh industrial area of West Champaran district, Bihar. The plant has been producing approximately 6 TPD of biogas over the past several months.
As per reports, Vardhan Group recently inked signed two tripartite agreements to built CBG plants in Bettiah and Gopalganj in Bihar with both having capacities of 18-TPD. The company held that both projects are scheduled for commissioning in 2027.
Today, Gorakhpur features major CBG infrastructure and community biogas initiatives. IOCL inaugurated a 20-TPD CBG project in 2024 where the facility would process 200 TPD of agricultural residue—primarily paddy straw, alongside cattle dung and press mud.
Similarly there is ‘Geeta Vatika Community Bioga’ project that runs an entire community kitchen replacing roughly 20 LPG cylinders on daily basis.
