IIT Roorkee Introduces Two Green Hydrogen Laboratories

* The Renewable Grid Integration Laboratory and Green Hydrogen Laboratory have been set up at the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy (HRED).

To facilitate India’s clean energy transition, IIT Roorkee has introduced two Green Hydrogen labs. The new facilities were inaugurated by Prof KK Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee.

The Renewable Grid Integration Laboratory and Green Hydrogen Laboratory have been set up at the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy (HRED).

Prof Pant also paid a visit to HRED laboratories undertaking transformative research in areas such as renewable energy (hydropower, energy storage, solar energy, biomass energy, management of water bodies) along with energy systems modelling.

The HRED at IIT Roorkee sets sights on exploiting renewable energy potential accessible in the country. It also aspires to undertake research and development of renewable energy at a massive scale.
India is giving major impetus to the development of Green Hydrogen, including the remote areas of Leh.
Recently, Delhi-based green hydrogen and solar developer firm, Uneecops Technologies Ltd said that it was set to establish the first green hydrogen microgrid project in the Leh region for a hydropower firm based in India. Uneecops will aid in the engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) for setting up a green hydrogen-based fuel cell microgrid of 25kW for the hydro-power firm’s guest house at Power Station, Alchi, Leh. The electricity generation will be 200 units per day from the fuel cell (14 KG of hydrogen per day).
