IOCL, GPS Renewables Join Hands To Setup CBG Plants
Organic Recycling Systems Ltd. (ORSL) has announced that its subsidiary Solapur Bioenergy Systems Limited (SBESL) has commenced the generation and dispatch of Compressed Biogas (CBG) from the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL). The green fuel is being sourced from the IOCL biogas plant located in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This significant achievement reinforces India’s green energy momentum and directly supports the Government of India’s SATAT initiative.
The CBG facility processes paddy straw, cow dung, and other organic residues to produce high-purity biogas, helping tackle stubble burning, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The project is also expected to create significant rural employment opportunities in biomass collection and logistics.

The company said that through such initiatives it is building a resilient, low-carbon energy ecosystem that benefits both the environment and the economy, while reinforcing India’s path toward energy independence.
Founded in 2008, ORSL has been a pioneer in waste valorisation and operates India’s first municipal solid waste processing plant using patented anaerobic biomethanation technology. With the Gorakhpur facility now operational, ORSL has expanded its renewable energy portfolio, reinforcing its role in India’s transition toward a low-carbon, energy-independent future.
The company recently launched a biomethanation plant that pioneers indigenous microbial technology by testing anaerobic digestion of diverse lignocellulosic and organic feedstocks at its SBESPL facility.
