VA Tech Wabag forms new subsidiary to build CBG plant in Ghaziabad
Earlier in 2024, Wabag had announced that it had signed an agreement with Peak Sustainability Ventures for the development of 100 CBG plants at sewage treatment facilities across India.
VA Tech Wabag Limited has announced the incorporation of a new subsidiary, Ghaziabad Bioenergy Private Limited, to execute a compressed bio-gas (CBG) project in Uttar Pradesh. The company has been incorporated on February 16, 2026, as a 51:49 joint venture with PEAK Sustainability Partners LLP.
The newly formed entity will act as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to develop a CBG project on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis at Dundaheda in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The move marks strategic foray of VA Tech Wabag into the bio-CNG and biogas segments, expanding its portfolio beyond water treatment solutions into the renewable energy and waste-to-energy domain.
Ghaziabad Bioenergy Private Limited has been incorporated with an initial paid-up capital of Rs 1 lakh comprising 10,000 equity shares of ₹10 each. Wabag holds a 51 per cent stake with 5,100 shares, while PEAK Sustainability Partners LLP holds the remaining 49 per cent, or 4,900 shares.
VA Tech Wabag has made the necessary disclosures under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The development reflects the increasing momentum in India’s bioenergy sector, as companies align with national priorities on sustainable energy generation and circular economy initiatives.
