Gulshan Polyols secures fresh order from OMCs to supply ethanol

The order relates to diverse molasses and grain-based distilleries to provide Ethanol under EBPP throughout the Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) until October 31, 2024, at multiple nationwide locations.

Gulshan Polyols will be supplying ethanol to oil marketing companies as it was won a tender bid for the same. Gulshan Polyols recently participated in a public tender for Ethanol issued by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), seeking participation from diverse molasses and grain-based distilleries to provide Ethanol under EBPP throughout the Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) until October 31, 2024, at multiple nationwide locations.

Following the conclusion of the initial bidding phase, Gulshan Polyols has been granted an additional supply allocation of 11396 Kilolitres of Ethanol for the third and fourth quarters (ESY) until October 31, 2024.

Gulshan Polyols will make the supplies from its 500 KLPD Ethanol plant at Boregaon. The estimated order value of the contract secured by Boregaon is of Rs 78.43 crore.

Last December, Gulshan Polyols Ltd. announced that it was granted a contract valued at Rs 572 crore to deliver 89,404 kiloliters of ethanol to Bharat Petroleum Corp. (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. (HPCL).

Blending on Roll

The Government has set target of 20% blending of ethanol in petrol under EBP programme by Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2025-26. As per the “Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India 2020-25”, the estimated requirement for 20% ethanol blending in ESY 2025-26  is approximately 1016 crore litres and this quantity of petrol will be replaced by ethanol.

As per the Roadmap, a successful E20 program can save the country about 4 billion US Dollar (USD) per annum.

The Government has already achieved the target of 10 per cent average blending of ethanol in Petrol in the country under Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme in June, 2022 i.e. five months ahead of the target of November, 2022.

The establishment of the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) aims to address major challenges and realising the potential of biofuels.
