Vibrant Gujarat Summit: Suzuki Motor to build biogas plant in Gujarat
Japanese automotive giant Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced a significant investment of approximately 35,000 crore ($4.6 billion) in Gujarat during the launch of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat summit. In its wide plan of things, Suzuki will be developing a biogas plant in Gujarat to accelerate the wheel of sustainable development and emission reduction.
Suzuki Motor announced that the company will establish biogas plants in Gujarat. The conglomerate is aligning with global sustainability efforts. The new biogas plant in the state will be meant to produce alternative fuels like compressed natural gas (CBG), bio-ethanol and green hydrogen.
Suzuki informed that the novel initiative will be undertaken in partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The biogas plant will be utilizing cow dung to produce biogas. The company is already building four biogas plants in Gujarat. It said that the new biogas plant announcement shows the commitment of the company to environmental sustainability.
Suzuki Motor Corporation president Toshihiro Suzuki said that as far as reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is concerned, the group will focus on a multi-pathway approach.
The biogas and other announcements were made in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Maruti Suzuki will be constructing a new automobile plant in Gujarat that will attract an investment of Rs 32,000 crore.
The facility will produce 1 million vehicles every year. The firm will invest an additional Rs 3,200 crore in its subsidiary Suzuki Motor Gujarat to construct a fourth production line only for electric vehicles that will bolster its production capacity by 250,000 units per annum.
