European recycling giants Erema and Lindner Washtech launch joint subsidiary in India

The new company Erema India will provide access to European technologies for washing, extrusion, and thermal decontamination.

Austria-based recycling technology leaders Erema GmbH and Lindner Washtech have expanded their footprint in India. The two have establishmeed a joint subsidiary in the state of Gujarat.

The new entity, Erema India, will serve as a joint sales and service subsidiary, reflecting growing demand for advanced recycling solutions in one of the world’s fastest-growing plastics markets.

The announcement was made during the Plast India trade fair, where the companies hosted an inauguration ceremony attended by around 125 guests, including customers, industry stakeholders, media representatives, and members of trade associations.

Erema Group CEO Manfred Hackl said, “India is one of the most dynamic markets for plastics recycling worldwide. With Erema India, we are creating the framework to support our customers even more precisely. The close interaction between local presence and combined system expertise is the key to accompanying the Indian market in its rapid development.”

Deepak Mehta, appointed Managing Director of Erema India and a long-time partner of the Erema Group, added, “By combining our long-standing market experience with Erema’s and Lindner Washtech’s vision, we are strengthening our presence in this rapidly growing market. I look forward to working together to create sustainable value for India’s recycling industry.”

India’s plastic consumption is projected to grow more than fivefold between 2019 and 2026, prompting stricter regulations such as extended producer responsibility (EPR). In the bottle-to-bottle recycling segment alone, around 25 new plants with a combined annual capacity of 600,000 metric tons are expected by 2026.

Access to European Technologies

Erema India will provide access to European technologies for washing, extrusion, and thermal decontamination. In addition to its Vadodara base, the company has opened a sales and service office in Mumbai to strengthen nationwide support. The integrated solutions aim to help recyclers achieve food-grade quality, improve efficiency, and ensure long-term operational excellence.
