TruAlt Bioenergy vows Rs 2,250 cr SAF project in Andhra Pradesh

Bengaluru-headquartered TruAlt Bioenergy Limited has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to set up one of the world’s largest Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production units in the state with an estimated investment of Rs 2,250 crore
The proposed SAF plant, with a capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum, will be developed in the Srikakulam–Vizianagaram region. TruAlt says that the project is expected to generate more than 500 direct jobs and nearly 2,000 indirect employment opportunities.
TruAlt plans to deploy the Alcohol-to-Jet Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene (ATJ-SPK) technology—an ICAO-approved pathway—to produce internationally certified, low-emission aviation fuel. The process converts sugar-based feedstock first into ethanol and then upgrades it into aviation-grade jet fuel. The company said this approach allows reliable access to feedstock, efficient large-scale output, and a competitive supply chain built on India’s abundant agricultural resources.
Calling the MoU a milestone for the company and for India’s clean-energy vision, Managing Director Vijay Nirani said that Sustainable Aviation Fuel has become an urgent global requirement. “By establishing one of the world’s largest ethanol-to-SAF facilities in Andhra Pradesh, we are taking a decisive step toward enabling low-carbon aviation at scale in one of the hardest sectors to decarbonise,” he said.
India has already mandated blending SAF with conventional aviation turbine fuel to reduce emissions from air travel. TruAlt Bioenergy is also among the early participants in the government’s SATAT programme to promote Compressed Biogas (CBG). Through its subsidiary Leafniti Bioenergy, it operates CBG plants that supply Bio-CNG and produce solid and liquid organic manure, enabling circular agriculture and waste-to-energy innovation.
With its growing biofuels platform, infrastructure investment and focus on rural value chains, TruAlt aims to position India as a global hub for SAF production while supporting the country’s long-term net-zero goals and strengthening the resilience of the aviation sector.
TruAlt recently launched its successful IPO and has also entered into an agreement with Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation to accelerate the development of compressed biogas (CBG) infrastructure in India.
