MADHYA PRADESH: SunBridge starts commercial ethanol production at Seoni

SunBridge BioEnergy Ltd, the bioenergy arm of Noida headquartered SunBridge Group, has commenced commercial production of fuel-grade ethanol at its grain-based manufacturing facility in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh.

The plant has an ethanol production capacity of 300 kilolitres per day (KLPD) and storage capacity of 11,000 kilolitres. Spread across around 117,560 square metres, the facility is designed to improve resource efficiency while producing ethanol from damaged food grains, including maize and broken rice.

SunBridge said its ethanol capacity is expected to rise to 700 KLD with the planned commissioning of its 400 KLD facility in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The Seoni plant also produces co-products, including distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and distillers corn oil (DCO), which are used mainly as feed ingredients for poultry and cattle.

The facility has water recovery and reuse systems and operates with zero liquid discharge (ZLD), supporting efficient water utilisation.

SunBridge Group Founder and Chairman Anuj Agarwal informed that the Seoni ethanol plant marks an important step in the company’s entry into bioenergy and its plans to build a scalable platform focused on energy and resource efficiency.

SunBridge said that using damaged and broken grains unsuitable for human consumption also creates an additional market for agricultural produce and supports rural economies.

Bioenergy Surge in Madhya Pradesh

As per the data presented by the government in the Parliament, Madhya Pradesh has an annual ethanol production capacity of 131 crore litres across 27 distilleries. Only Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka have more distillery count and capacity than the central Indian state.

Jakson Group has built a 150 KLPD (Kilo Litres Per Day) grain-based distillery in Village Basi. Sarsaliya Vinod Green Energy has proposed 100 KLPD ethanol facility. Similarly, Hindustan Green Energy Limited (HGEL) has been developing a grain-based plant planned for 400 KLPD total capacity in two phases. Crescendo Industries is mulling for a 120 KLPD plant in Rewa.
