Greenzo to set up electrolyser plant for Jindal Stainless in Odisha

Greenzo Energy India Ltd has secured a significant contract from Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), the country’s largest stainless steel producer, to deliver an advanced electrolyser-based green hydrogen plant at JSL’s Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur, Odisha. The scope of work includes supply, erection, installation, and commissioning of the facility.

The upcoming plant is designed to produce 472,409 kg of green hydrogen annually and is scheduled for delivery within six months of contract signing. With an initial capacity of 5,256,000 Nm³ per year (approx. 0.47 KTPA), the infrastructure is already equipped to scale production up to 1.5 KTPA in the future. The green hydrogen generated will be deployed in JSL’s critical processes, including the Bright Annealing Line and Bell Furnace, thereby advancing the company’s transition towards green steel and substantially cutting carbon emissions.

In addition to supplying the technology, Greenzo will provide extensive training and operational support. This includes 30 days of hands-on training for JSL’s technical team and 11 months of remote assistance, ensuring smooth integration and reliable performance of the plant.

Commenting on the development, Sandeep Agarwal, Managing Director of Greenzo Energy, said, “Our homegrown electrolyser technology offers high efficiency, scalability, and reliability. It delivers hydrogen at 30 bar pressure with 99.99999% purity, and features India-developed bipolar stack technology along with integrated SCADA and AI-based systems for real-time monitoring and predictive diagnostics.”

The partnership represents a strategic leap for both companies. For JSL, it underscores a firm commitment to decarbonizing operations and aligning with global ESG benchmarks and India’s net-zero targets. For Greenzo, it strengthens its growing footprint in the hydrogen ecosystem, establishing the company as a pivotal player in India’s clean energy transition.

This development also echoes India’s national hydrogen agenda, which emphasizes building robust infrastructure and driving adoption across hard-to-abate sectors like steel, chemicals, and refining. As industries accelerate their green hydrogen integration, collaborations such as this highlight India’s emergence as a global leader in the clean energy landscape.

Recently, Engineers India Limited (EIL) awarded a prestigious Research & Development (R&D) order to Greenzo under which a green hydrogen unit will be set up at EIL’s R&D complex in Gurugram, Haryana.
