COMPRESSED BIOGAS CONCLAVE-2026: Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate mega IFGE event in Pune

The Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE) has announced that its upcoming “Compressed Biogas Conclave 2026” will be inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. The two-day event will be organised by IFGE on 6th and 7th March 2026 at YASHADA, Pune, Maharashtra.

The theme of the event is “Compressed Biogas Conclave 2026: Moving Towards an Efficient & Robust CBG Production Ecosystem.” The initiative is supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. An optional technical site visit to CBG facilities has also be kept on 8th March 2026.

The Conclave will deliberate on critical operational, technological, and commercial challenges confronting the CBG sector. The discussions will focus on improving plant efficiency, optimizing feedstock utilization, deploying proven and scalable technologies, and developing viable offtake and revenue models.

Sanjay Ganjoo, President, IFGE

Sanjay Ganjoo, Director General, IFGE, informed, “The CBG sector has witnessed strong momentum over the past three to four years, alongside rapid adoption and stabilisation of new technologies and processes. He noted that emerging entrepreneurs are keen to understand proven, field-tested models to reduce risks and accelerate plant commissioning. The CBG Conclave will provide them direct exposure to best-performing projects. He added that Pune is an ideal venue, given its location in the sugar belt and the growing number of pressmud-based units.”

Under initiatives like SATAT, CBG is used in transport (fuelling vehicles), industry (boiler fuel), and commercial sectors, with a mandatory blending obligation (CBO) starting at 1% in FY 2025-26.

The Conclave will witness the participation of eminent dignitaries including Annasaheb M. K. Patill, Dr. T. Krishna Prasad, Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Y. B. Ramakrishna, Sanjay Kolte, Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Ashish Kumar, Atul Mulay and Dilip Patil. The platform aims to enable direct and constructive engagement between industry stakeholders, policymakers, Oil Marketing Companies, City Gas Distribution entities, financial institutions, and technology providers, thereby strengthening the ecosystem for sustainable and bankable CBG projects in India.

Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, President, IFGE and Founder Chairman, Praj In¬dustries, stated, “Compressed Biogas is central to India’s clean energy and circular economy goals. Platforms like the Compressed Biogas Conclave 2026 are vital for driving technology-led collabo¬ration and accelerating sustainable growth of the CBG sector.”

IFGE is a dedicated national trade body actively engaged in policy advocacy for the green and bioenergy sector since 2014. IFGE works closely with industry, government, and research institutions and regularly organizes conferences, conclaves, and knowledge platforms to support the structured growth of the bioenergy ecosystem in India.
