BPCL sign several CBG TPAs in to accelerate CBG supply in Uttar Pradesh

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has signed multiple Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) Tripartite Agreements (TPAs) in Uttar Pradesh to strengthen the integration of CBG or biogas into BPCL City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. The agreements were signed during the Saksham Meet held in Varanasi.

Rahul Tandon, Business Head at BPCL, stated that these TPAs reflect the company’s structured strategy to incorporate CBG into its fuel ecosystem. By expanding biogas sourcing and enhancing blending levels within its CGD infrastructure, BPCL is working towards building a resilient and low-carbon energy framework for the future.

Lakhimpur Focus

In the Lakhimpur Geographical Area (GA), BPCL has signed three TPAs with two CBG developers, securing a total renewable gas supply of 34 tonnes per day (TPD). The agreements include a 10 TPD plant in Pilibhit being developed by Jio-bp and two 12 TPD plants in Sitapur by Ladelite Power. These facilities are expected to become operational by July 2026. With these additions, the total number of TPAs in the Lakhimpur GA has reached 18, with an overall contracted capacity exceeding 145 TPD, thereby promoting decentralised renewable gas sourcing and strengthening the rural bioeconomy.

Amethi–Pratapgarh–Raebareli

Simultaneously, the Amethi–Pratapgarh–Raebareli GA has expanded its renewable gas portfolio through two new TPAs with Reliance Industries Limited for a 5 TPD CBG plant in Ayodhya and another in Haidergarh, Barabanki district. Gas supply from these plants is expected to commence by April 2026, taking the total TPAs in this GA to seven, with a combined contracted capacity of 28 TPD.

As per reports, between April 2025 and January 2026, BPCL signed 31 TPAs aggregating 255 TPD of CBG capacity. As of January 2026, the company has executed 44 TPAs across its CGD network with a total contracted capacity of 284 TPD.
