Akhilesh Kumar Dixit takes over as new CEO of EESL

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, announced Shri Akhilesh Kumar Dixit as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Dixit joins EESL from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), where he served with distinction in multiple senior roles across core business functions.

A seasoned professional with over three decades of extensive experience, Dixit brings to EESL a deep understanding of the power sector and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Madan Mohan Technical University, Gorakhpur and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) from the prestigious Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.

Over the span of his 32-year career, Dixit has held diverse leadership roles across various domains including substation and transmission line operations, business development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), human resources, and procurement. His international exposure and experience with multidisciplinary teams have enabled him to execute several high-impact projects across geographies.

On his appointment as the CEO of EESL, Akhilesh Kumar Dixit said: “It is an honor to lead EESL at a time when energy efficiency is at the core of India’s sustainable development goals. I look forward to building on EESL’s strong legacy while charting a bold path forward—one that integrates smart technologies, fosters inclusive growth, and delivers measurable impact for our nation.”

As the new CEO, Dixit now shoulders the responsibility of transforming EESL into a next-generation energy solutions provider, driving innovation, accelerating adoption of sustainable technologies, and strengthening India’s energy efficiency mission.

A joint venture of NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and POWERGRID, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) was set up under the Ministry of Power to facilitate implementation of energy efficiency projects. EESL is a Super Energy Service Company (ESCO) that seeks to unlock energy efficiency market in India, estimated at Rs 74,000 crore that can potentially result in energy savings of up to 20 percent of current consumption, by way of innovative business and implementation models.
