Jal Jeevan Mission Uttar Pradesh water connections
The Haryana Government wants to ensure optimal distribution of potable water in the villages and women to have a considerable role in it. In this direction, the Haryana Cabinet has approved the implementation of a new scheme where Self Help Groups led by women will be the service providers under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) for water supply in the rural areas of the state.

Secondly, it will give the women members of Self Help Groups opportunities to augment their income. Thirdly, the gram panchayats in Haryana could increase its revenue through billing the households.
This scheme by the Haryana government to uplift the women led SHGs, gram panchayats and distribution of clean drinking water to the households in the interiors has been prepared with close coordination with the Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission (HSRLM).
The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Under this scheme, it has been proposed that the billing for water usage by households will be carried out by the village water and sanitation committees. These committees will then engage SHG women members who will send the bills to households online.
The SHG women members will be responsible in the gram panchayats for the distribution and collection of water bills. The activity shall be carried out as per the guidelines created by Haryana state rural livelihood mission (SRLM).
