IIT-H Incubated Startup PuREnergy To Launch 4 Electric 2-Wheelers

After commercially launching its lithium batteries in September 2018, the startup incubated by the Indian Institute of technology, Hyderabad (IITH) PuREnergy has announced to launch 10,000 electric vehicles in four models – Egnite, Etrance, EPlute and ETron in the ensuing financial year.

According to the company, these will be called Pure EV, and are long-range, high-performance electric two-wheelers specifically for Indian conditions and is set to launch commercially across the country next month.

The Pure EV will run on Li-ion Batteries specifically designed to work under tough environmental conditions, will have lesser weight for portability and shall deliver high discharge currents for fast pick-up.

Pure EV has deployed hundreds of test samples across pan-India over last one year to various distributors, corporate firms and professional test riders. It is also in the process of developing a strong network of channel partners across pan-India.

Highlighting the business plans of the firm, Rohit Vadera, chief executive officer, Pure EV, added, “We have obtained ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) approvals for electric bikes and two-wheelers. The company has invested a significant amount of resources for on-road testing the products for their market readiness.”

The electric vehicles incubated by the start-up offers significant cost savings over traditional ICE vehicles with running costs as low as 5 paise/km.

The company has other plans in the electric mobility as well. The company is also working to launch high-speed electric vehicles in the future and has extended collaboration with other EV start-ups to develop and supply high voltage lithium batteries for three and four-wheeler applications.
