Hyundai launches Creta Flex Fuel Version that can run on 100% ethanol

Days after Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced automakers’ efforts to develop ethanol-powered vehicles, Hyundai has introduced the Creta Flex Fuel at the ongoing 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. This version of the Hyundai SUV has been created to run on both 100% petrol and also 100% ethanol. This model is powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine designed to run on ethanol fuel blends, offering an eco-friendlier alternative to conventional fuel.

Although the Flex Fuel variant looks similar to the standard Creta, it features significant changes under the hood. The drivetrain has been specially modified, including a new 1.0-liter engine adapted for flex fuel compatibility. This engine enables the car to operate on ethanol blends, including E100, as well as standard petrol.

The Creta Flex Fuel variant is equipped with a unique 1.0-liter turbocharged engine, which is not available in the standard Creta. A similar engine is used in the Hyundai i20 N and Venue N Line models, delivering approximately 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. The version powering the Creta Flex Fuel has been modified to support ethanol blends, although Hyundai has yet to disclose additional technical details or a launch timeline.

Hyundai Creta Electric

In addition to the Flex Fuel version, Hyundai has also launched the Creta Electric, available in four variants: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. Prices for the electric model range from ₹17.99 lakh to ₹23.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai’s official website provides comprehensive details about the Creta Electric, including specifications, color options, and booking information to help customers make informed decisions. The electric variant is offered in five trim levels: Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium, and Excellence.

Customers can choose between two battery packs: a 42 kWh option and a larger 51.4 kWh pack. Notably, the mid-tier Smart trim is available with both battery configurations, providing flexibility for buyers.

As the ethanol economy is taking shape with speed in the country, mainly due to the policy measures, the auto-makers are responding in the same spirit with increased innovation that would lead to greener transportation in days to come.
