Uttar Pradesh to get 100 new CBG/biogas plants: Hardeep Singh Puri

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, announced that 100 new CBG/biogas plants will be established in Uttar Pradesh. He issued the statement before attending the inauguration ceremony of HPCL’s CBG Plant in Badaun district alongside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Addressing reporters in Lucknow, Hardeep Singh Puri commended the progress made by the state under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership over the past seven years, shedding its previousof being a ‘BIMARU’ (sick) state and showcasing commendable advancements across all sectors.

The Chief Minister revealed that each of these new CBG plants will provide direct employment opportunities to over 100 individuals, with ancillary support industries contributing significantly to job creation.

During his speech, Minister Hardeep Singh Puri lauded the developmental achievements of Uttar Pradesh over the last seven years.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed Hardeep Singh Puri about the ongoing development of similar CBG plants in eight districts across the state, including Jaunpur, Amethi, Sitapur, Fatehpur, Bahraich, Bareilly, Kannauj, and Budaun.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that one CBG plant can purify 147 thousand acres of land for farming, addressing concerns about the toxicity of fields due to excessive fertilizer use leading to deadly diseases. He advocated for natural and organic farming as the solution.

Hardeep Singh Puri reiterated that the CBG plant represents a significant step towards promoting natural organic farming and converting waste into wealth.

Highlighting the significant transformations in the petroleum sector under the “double-engine” government, Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized substantial growth in infrastructure. He noted that since 2014, the number of petrol pumps in the state has surged from 5,506 to 11,124, marking a remarkable 102 percent increase.

Hardeep Singh Puri said that LPG distributors also increased by 113 percent, from 1,944 in 2014 to 4,142 presently. The number of PNG (piped natural gas) connections has also risen from 11,650 to over 14 lakh and 90 thousand. Additionally, the state now boasts 870 CNG stations, with aviation fuel stations increasing from 7 to 11. The Union Minister also highlighted the rise in LPG gas connections from 1 crore 80 lakh to 4 crore 80 lakh.
