SEDL, Jakson Green partner to develop India’s first 4G ethanol project

Spray Engineering Devices Limited (SEDL) has announced that it has joined forces with green energy conglomerate Jakson Green to develop India’s first 4G ethanol plant. SEDL held that the upcoming 4G ethanol project will be located at NTPC Green premises.

As per reports, the ground-breaking ethanol project leverages LanzaTech’s cutting-edge gas fermentation technology to transform captured carbon dioxide and green hydrogen into sustainable biofuel.

Vivek Verma, Managing Director of SEDL hailed the collaboration and stated, “SEDL is honored to contribute our expertise in distillation and dehydration to this landmark project. “This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to driving sustainable innovations and supporting India’s renewable energy transition. We are confident that this plant will serve as a model for future biofuel production, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.”

As per the collaboration terms, Jakson Green will lead the design, construction, and operation of the carbon capture and green hydrogen facilities. The project will feature LanzaTech’s next-generation bioreactor, representing a major leap forward for India’s biofuels landscape.

This initiative supports India’s aggressive renewable energy targets and underscores the transformative potential of 4G ethanol. By shifting away from food-based feedstocks, 4G ethanol introduces a more sustainable, cost-effective path to biofuel production.

With over 30 years of experience, SEDL is a trusted leader in energy-efficient solutions, serving industries including Water, Jaggery, Sugar, Sugar Refining, and Biofuels. SEDL remains committed to delivering innovative technologies that foster sustainability and shape the future of clean energy.

The 4G Ethanol Project

In June this year, Jakson Green  announced that it has secured an order from state-owned NTPC to establish a plant for producing 4G ethanol from flue gas in Raigarh, Chattisgarh. Subsequently in August, USA-giant LanzaTech revealed that it has received orders from Jackson Green to supply 4G ethanol technology to NTPC project in the Central India.
