SECI’s Issues with Hybrid Projects. Deadline for 160 MW Hybrid project extended for 2nd time

The Solar Energy Corporation of India has extended the bid submission date of 160 MW of solar-wind hybrid power project with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Ramgiri located in Andhra Pradesh. The bids submission will be on November 2nd 2018 now, though the bids will open on the same date. This is the second bid extension for the 160 MW tender.  The recent amendment shows that the percentage of mandatory spare module supplied from the country has increased to 0.50 percent from an earlier 0.25 percent.

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has applied for financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Project of Innovation in Solar Power and Hybrid Technologies and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the Contract.

Document of Amendment to the RfB for Design, Engineering, Supply, Construction, Erection, Testing & Commissioning of 160 MW Solar-Wind Hybrid Power Plant with BESS including 10 Years Plant O&M under International competitive bidding at Ramagiri, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, can be found here.

In March, power minister R.K. Singh called on battery-based energy storage manufacturers to set up manufacturing units in India, particularly given the new focus on hybrid projects through the government’s recently finalised National Wind-Solar Hybrid policy, under which all forms of energy storage are eligible to be included in projects.

SECI sets a tariff of Rs 2.93 for next batch of wind-solar hybrid projects

The setting up of 160 Wind-Solar Hybrid project with BESS at Ramagiri, AP has been the plan of the government since January. The previous deadline was extended from 10th October to 17th October, 2018.

SECI extended its Mega Solar Power bid submission deadline for the third time, finding hard to address all the concerns of the bidders. Extensions for other projects (150 MW Floating Solar Plant at Rihand Dam and 2 MW Solar Plant with BESS at Kaza, Spiti Valley) also announced last week.
