Refex Renewables & Infrastructure Ltd. has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Refex Green Power, has been awarded a contract worth Rs 78.54 crore by the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation for setting up a 250 tonnes per day (TPD) Bio-CNG plant in Coimbatore.
The bio-CNG project will be executed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, following a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) framework. The agreement spans a period of 20 years, during which Refex Green Power will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the project.
The company is already building a similar biogas facility in the industrial city of Salem.
The concession agreement is expected to be signed within 30 days of the Letter of Award (LOA), and the scheduled commissioning date (SCD) for the plant’s full operational capacity is set at 19 months from the date of signing.
Refex Renewables & Infrastructure specializes in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted solar power plants, solar water pumps, and home solar systems.
Despite the new project win, the company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 10.45 crore for the third quarter of Financial Year 2025, widening from a net loss of Rs 8.54 crore in the same quarter last year. Also, the revenue from operations saw a decline, falling 22.6% year-on-year to Rs 15.90 crore in the quarter ending 31 December 2024.
Last year, the group’s Refex Sustainability Solutions Ltd. (RSSL) completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in compressed biogas (CBG) player Vyzag Bio-Energy Fuel and entered the biogas sector. Subsequently, Refex Green Power Ltd secured a significant contract worth Rs 65.07 crore to build a 200-tonne-per-day (TPD) municipal solid waste-based Bio-CNG plant in Salem, Tamil Nadu.
