Electro-Oxidation Of H2 Can Improve Green Fuel Production By 30%: Report
In a key development that would bolster the development of green hydrogen in the North East region of India, the state-owned Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has again invited bids for establishing and operating a Green Hydrogen Generation Unit (GHGU). The green hydrogen facility will be developed at its refinery located in Numaligarh, Assam.
As per the tender document, the project will be implemented on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) model and is designed to supply gaseous green hydrogen (GGH) to NRL for the duration of 25 years. The re-tendering process was initiated after the company made changes to the bill of quantities (BOQ) and revised some of the original terms and conditions specified in the initial tender released on August 16, 2024.
Scope Of Work
The scope of work for the selected developer is comprehensive and includes design and detailed engineering, civil and structural construction, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems setup, as well as testing, commissioning, and long-term operations and maintenance of the GHGU and all associated utilities. T
The unit will have an installed capacity of 10,000 tons per annum. As part of the project, the successful bidder will be required to sign a Green Hydrogen Purchase Agreement (GHPA) with NRL, ensuring a steady supply of green hydrogen over the 25-year period.
The deadline for bid submission is June 23, 2025. The initiative reflects NRL’s ongoing commitment to integrating green hydrogen into its refining operations and aligns with India’s broader goal of achieving a clean energy transition.
NRL held that it has taken initiatives to set up Green Hydrogen plants of total capacity 12.4KTPA, in line with country’s target to achieve net zero by 2070.
