National Thermal Power Corporation has issued a tender for the development of 25 MW Floating Solar PV Project at NTPC Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh.

The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading storage, installation, testing and commissioning of Solar Photo Voltaic Plant based on Open category PV modules and cells.

Apart from this, the tender document mentions a multitude of tasks to be performed by the successful bidder.

The final date for the submission of bid is January 22, 2019, and the reverse auction will take place at a later date which will be notified. The tender document can be accessed here.

Prospective bidders are required to provide GSTIN number at the time of purchase of bidding documents, the tender document mentions.

Last week the Indian government slashed the Solar Capacity installation which was to be developed by NTPC to just 3 GW from 15 GW.

Under Tranche-I, 3,000 MW of solar capacity was to be developed from 2014-15 to 2016-17, under Tranche-II, 5,000 MW was to be developed from 2015-16 to 2017-18, and under Tranche-III, 7,000 MW was to be developed from 2016-17 to 2018-19, Singh informed the House.

New & Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh in his reply said, “The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued the guidelines for selection of 3,000 MW of solar PV capacity in March 2015. The entire capacity of 3,000 MW Tranche-I has been awarded. Capacity of 2,750 MW has already been commissioned and remaining 250 MW capacity is under construction. Under the program, it was envisioned that the then costlier solar power will be bundled with cheaper thermal power, so as to supply the combined power at an affordable price.”

“Since the price of solar power has fallen recently, it is not proposed to take up Tranche II(5GW) and III(7GW),” Singh announced in Lok Sabha winter session. Power minister also added that cumulative renewable energy capacity of 73.35 GW has been installed in the country up to October 2018. To achieve the balance target of 101.65 GW( out of the 175 GW target), an investment of about Rs 5.12 lakh crore has been estimated as per average current capital cost.
