KIS Group, Paras Dairy to develop 10 Bio-CNG plants with Rs 1,000 crore investment

Bengaluru headquartered KIS Group-Sustainability and VRS Foods (Paras Dairy) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop 10 Bio-CNG plants across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states in India.

The projects are expected to involve an estimated investment of around Rs 1,000 crore. The first Bio-CNG plant is targeted to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2027, while the remaining nine plants are expected to be developed by 2029.

The initiative seeks to accelerate the adoption of Bio-CNG and renewable energy while promoting waste-to-energy projects and supporting India’s transition towards a low-carbon energy system.

The companies said the planned projects would also contribute to the development of India’s circular economy by converting organic waste into clean energy.

Previously, KIS Group announced that it has received new orders to develop two new biogas plants in Gujarat for Banas Dairy. Founder & Chief Operating Officer, Raghunath KR, had informed that his firm received two more repeat orders for the construction of two biogas plants with a capacity of 100 MT/day for each plant. In November last year, Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation announced that it has acquired a minority stake in the biogas construction firm KIS Group’s Indonesia operations, signalling its foray into the global biogas industry.

Expansion in Indonesia

Separately, KIS Group has entered into another partnership in Indonesia to explore Bio-CNG production from animal manure.

The group, along with PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia and PT Gagas Energi Indonesia, has signed an MoU to explore the development of Bio-CNG from livestock manure.

Under the proposed collaboration, the partners will examine opportunities to convert animal manure into renewable energy, creating a cleaner use for organic waste while expanding the utilisation of renewable energy.

KIS Group’s General Manager in Indonesia, Sreejith Ambady, signed the MoU on behalf of the company.

The Indonesia initiative is expected to focus on developing Bio-CNG from animal manure and could provide a model for converting agricultural and livestock waste into a renewable fuel source.

Together, the two collaborations mark KIS Group’s efforts to expand its BioCNG and waste-to-energy portfolio across India and international markets.
