Juno Joule to develop Rs 700 crore CBG project in Telangana

Hyderabad headquartered Juno Joule Bio Fuels Private Limited has initiated construction of its flagship Compressed Biogas (CBG) project at the Narmetta Industrial Area in Telangana’s Siddipet district, marking a significant step toward expanding sustainable waste-to-energy infrastructure in India.

The project forms part of a larger cluster development plan comprising 10 CBG plants, each with a capacity of 10 tonnes per day (TPD), with a total planned investment of Rs 700 crore. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the country’s clean fuel ecosystem while promoting circular economy practices.

The first phase of the project, currently being rolled out at Narmetta, includes three CBG plants of 10 TPD each, with an investment of Rs 210 crore. This phase is expected to serve as a key hub for scalable bio-energy production in the region.

The overall development will be executed in three phases—Phase 1 with three plants, Phase 2 with another three, and Phase 3 with four plants. The entire cluster is targeted for completion by 2029–30, contributing to India’s low-carbon energy transition.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the CBG was attended by several prominent leaders, including Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao, IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, who also chairs the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Lok Sabha MP N K Premachandran, among others.

Last year, the Telangana government secured more than Rs 1,500 crore for the establishment of world-class CBG plants across the state. GPS Renewables announced an investment Rs 2,000 crore in Telangana to develop 15 compressed biogas plants, each with a capacity of 15 tonnes per day.

This was followed by an announcement by Atirath Holdings India for an investment of Rs 4,000-crore to expand biogas infrastructure in the southern state.
