INOX Gets LOI To Develop Wind Power Project for Adani in Gujarat

Indian Wind Energy Major, Inox Wind Limited announced on Wednesday, it has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Adani Green Energy, a part of the Adani group, to erect and commission 501.6 MW of wind power projects, across projects won under SECI auctions. The project is scheduled to be executed over the next 15 months at Kutch District of Gujarat, company said.

Inox Wind is being roped in to supply, install and commission 152 wind turbines of 3.3 MW in Kutch district project. These wind turbine generators will have 145-meter rotor diameter erect at a 100 to 120-meter height. The project is expected to be executed by next year. These turbines are reportedly, one of the highest rated turbines with the largest rotor dia to be made available in the Indian market.

Inox has one of the largest rotor diameters in its class – resulting in higher swept area and consequently higher power output.

Adani Green Energy, a Adani Group company, is a major Independent Power Producer (IPP) in India and this order strengthens the existing partnership between the two companies in the renewable energy space. The company has a renewable portfolio exceeding 2.2 GW. It has a target of increasing its renewable energy portfolio to about 10 GW by 2021.

Inox Wind is a fully integrated wind energy solutions company catering to the IPPs, PSUs and Utilities. The company has three manufacturing plants in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. INOX claims that based on detailed wind resource assessment, a significant land bank has also been acquired by the company. IWL says that it has the largest project site inventory spread across wind-rich states and currently has sufficient land bank for the installation of an aggregate capacity of more than 5,000 MW. Every year, the company can manufacture equipment to produce 1,600 MW of wind energy.

Last year in November, the INOX wind signed an exclusive agreement with American Superconductor or AMSC, a global solutions provider serving the wind and power grid industry, to launch the 3MW wind turbine which is especially suitable for low wind regimes in India. Indian Government aims to install 60GW of wind capacity by 2022 out of its 175GW Renewable Energy target.
