‘India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo-2024’ concludes, top performers awarded

The India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo 2024 that was organised at Yashobhoomi in the national capital has concluded and the event has been claimed as a big success by the organisers including Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE).

At the biofuels-focused expo, industry leaders were celebrated for their significant contributions to India’s growing bioenergy sector. The event recognized the achievements of biodiesel suppliers for their outstanding contributions during the financial year 2023-24.

Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, presented awards to key players in the biodiesel industry. The honorees were acknowledged for their efforts in boosting biodiesel production and supply, supporting India’s shift towards sustainable energy.

During the event, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has been awarded for achieving the highest volume and blending percentage of biodiesel in the country for financial year 2023-24. Similarly, Emami Agrotech Pvt. Ltd. was honoured as the largest supplier of biodiesel to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in the large category.

The Blue Stone Energy Pvt. Ltd. has been recognized as the largest supplier of UCO-Biodiesel to OMCs and Chemenergy Biofuels Pvt. Ltd. received award for being the largest supplier of biodiesel in the medium category.

In his address, Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized the crucial role of biofuels in reducing India’s reliance on fossil fuels, forecasting that bioenergy will account for 50% of the country’s fossil fuel consumption within the next five years. Gadkari also urged state finance ministers to reduce the GST on flex-fuel vehicles from the current 28% plus a 15% cess to 12% to promote the adoption of greener fuel alternatives.

The India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo 2024, organized by the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE), served as a crucial platform for discussing the future of bioenergy technologies and advancing India’s green energy initiatives. The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and experts to discuss the latest developments in bioenergy and its essential role in achieving India’s sustainability goals.

The event attracted no less than 350 delegates, 130 speakers and 5,000 visitors over three days, making IBETE 2024 a pivotal platform for advancing the bioenergy sector in India.
