IBA claims to have secured investments of Rs 200cr in biogas sector during RenewX-2025

The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) has announced that the biogas sector has secured investment commitments of more than Rs 200 crore at the recently concluded RenewX-2025, one of the leading renewable energy exhibitions in India.

Held from April 23 to 25 at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam, the three-day exhibition & conference facilitated these investments through a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). This has been revealed through an official statement by the IBA.

Highlighting emerging innovations in bioenergy, sustainable collaborations, and policy engagement, the event attracted widespread interest from industry professionals, investors, and government representatives, the IBA apprised.

Gaurav Kedia, Chairman, IBA, said “This is the first time that we have showcased biogas sector capabilities in Chennai. Our interactions here have laid the groundwork for several new collaborations and have deepened interest in bioenergy solutions, especially in southern India,” said IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia.”

IBA President AR Shukla stated, IBA President A R Shukla added, “RenewX 2025 showcased a unique blend of technology, grassroots innovation, and policy alignment. It is clear that bioenergy can play a pivotal role in reshaping India’s energy future especially when supported by the right regulatory and financial ecosystem.”

RenewX 2025 brought together key players from across the renewable energy spectrum — including bioenergy, solar, wind, energy storage, and energy management — fostering strategic partnerships and sparking forward-looking discussions.

IBA has been striving for the development of the biogas sector in India through various means including advocacy with the policy makers. During Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo-2024, IBA garnered Rs 1,850 crore investments in the sector. The body called on the Central Government to introduce corporate tax holidays for the CBG sector to boost investments.

Before that, IBA sought an investment of Rs 30,000 crore in India to bolster the procurement of necessary machinery and equipment for biomass supply to biogas plants, with the aim of reducing LNG imports by 12 MMTA.
