Elan Energy to consult BPCL on 5–10 TPD CBG projects

Elan Energy has secured a consultancy assignment from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) for the development of Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants based primarily on municipal solid waste (MSW) and paddy straw, strengthening its presence in India’s growing renewable energy and waste-to-energy sector.

Under the assignment, Elan Energy will provide consultancy services for the development of CBG plants with production capacities ranging from 5 tonnes per day (TPD) to 10 TPD at selected locations in Maharashtra and Haryana.

The projects are aimed at converting municipal waste and agricultural residues into renewable fuel, while addressing waste management challenges and supporting the development of a circular economy. By using locally available waste and crop residue as feedstock, the proposed plants are expected to contribute to resource recovery and cleaner energy generation.

The BPCL tender covers four locations—Gadchiroli, Mira-Bhayandar and Kalyan Dombivli in Maharashtra, and Manesar in Haryana. The scope includes consultancy as well as works-contract-related services for the development of the proposed CBG facilities.

The assignment marks another step in expansion of Elan Energy within India’s CBG and renewable energy ecosystem. Elan Energy is positioning its technical and project-development capabilities to support the deployment of commercially viable waste-to-energy projects.

Last year, Elan Energy was awarded the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract by BPCL for 16 CBG projects across India. Prior to that, the company was already delivering PMC work on India’s first refinery-based CBG plant – which was again awarded by BPCL.

The company also secured a PMC contract from GAIL (India) Ltd for setting up a 14 TPD paddy straw-based CBG plant in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh.
