Andhra Pradesh is striving towards greening its energy sector with quite some speed. In a key development, Australia-based Arvensis Group has announced plans to set up a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of about Rs 150 crore.
The announcement came during a meeting of the representatives of Arvensis Group held in Tadepalli with Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar.
The proposed facility will have a processing capacity of 12 to 20 tonnes per day and represents a significant step in boosting the state’s renewable energy infrastructure. Welcoming the investment, Minister Ravi Kumar highlighted the vast potential of Andhra Pradesh for clean energy initiatives and assured the company of the government’s full support.
Ravi Kumar also emphasized that all necessary approvals would be expedited through the state’s single-window clearance system. He said that Andhra offers immense opportunities for renewable energy projects, and we are committed to providing comprehensive support to such initiatives.
Representatives from Arvensis Group expressed satisfaction with the discussions and confirmed that the CBG plant would be their first project in the region. They reiterated their long-term commitment to India’s renewable energy goals, with Andhra Pradesh serving as the starting point of their investment in the sector.
Minister Ravi Kumar further noted that the project is expected to generate both direct and indirect employment for local youth. He praised the company’s decision to invest in Andhra Pradesh, aligning with the state’s broader vision of becoming a hub for sustainable energy and green industries.
State’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana had previously announced that waste-to-energy plants will be established across all 13 districts of Andhra. Energy conglomerate Reliance Industries has already promised an investment of Rs 65,000 crore to build 500 CBG plants in the southern state.
