CBG-CGD Synchronisation: GAIL, Gujarat Gas & Baba Deep Singh sign tripartite agreement for CBG supply in Punjab

With an objective to bolster India’s green energy goals, a Tripartite Agreement has been signed between Baba Deep Singh Green Power Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat Gas Ltd. and GAIL under the Compressed Biogas–City Gas Distribution (CBG-CGD) Synchronisation Scheme.

Under the agreement, Baba Deep Singh Green Power will produce compressed biogas (CBG), which will be supplied to Gujarat Gas Ltd., with GAIL ensuring seamless transmission and distribution, thereby strengthening the CBG supply chain.

The project involves the establishment of a state-of-the-art biogas plant at Village Qadian in Gurdaspur district, Punjab. The facility is expected to generate 34,000 cubic meters of raw biogas per day, translating into approximately 13,600 kilograms of purified CBG daily.

EPC responsibilities for the new work have been entrusted to CEID Consultants and Engineering Pvt. Ltd. CEID is currently overseeing the plant’s development, which includes infrastructure design, equipment procurement, and implementation in compliance with stringent environmental and safety standards. The plant will also incorporate cutting-edge technology to ensure operational efficiency and sustainability.

Kanwar Pratap Singh Bajwa, Director of Baba Deep Singh Green Power, said, “This tripartite agreement is a milestone in our path towards decentralized and sustainable energy solutions. Through the partnership with GAIL and Gujarat Gas Ltd., we believe that the gas from our plant will be easily incorporated into the overall CGD network. This partnership reinforces our drive towards contributing to India’s cleaner energy aspirations, especially through the exploitation of agri-residues and organic waste.”

Abhinav Govil, CEID Consultants and Engineering, stated, “We are delighted to be the EPC partner of the Baba Deep Singh Green Power Plant. This is our second plant in Gurdaspur. The first one has already been commissioned and has been successfully injecting CBG into the Gujarat Gas pipeline since last year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Govil expressed optimism about the project’s potential to become a benchmark in CBG production. He said that the plant will stand as a testament to engineering excellence and showcase how innovation can drive India’s green energy revolution.

Recently, GAIL (India) Ltd, IRM Energy Ltd and IAV Biogas Pvt. Ltd. agreed to support the integration of CBG into CGD network under the CBG-CGD Synchronization Scheme in the Namakkal and Tiruchirappalli regions of Tamil Nadu.
