MAY 24: Raj Process to host pivotal Technical Seminar in Pune on “New Energy, New Future: The Next-Gen Sugar Complex”

Raj Process Equipments and Systems Pvt Ltd, a Pune-based technology innovator and engineering conglomerate, is set to host a technical seminar titled “New Energy, New Future: The Next-Gen Sugar Complex” on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The seminar, scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at Hyatt Pune near Aga Khan Palace in Kalyani Nagar, will spotlight the themes of innovation, integration, and sustainability in the sugar and bioenergy sectors.

Organised in collaboration with the Deccan Sugar Technologists Association (DSTA), the one-day mega event is expected to attract a diverse gathering of industry players, sector experts and innovators.

The seminar will delve into critical advancements and energy pathways including bio-CNG, green hydrogen, grain-based transformation of sugar complexes, Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR), water-saving distillation technologies, and other sustainable innovations. Participants can look forward to a series of expert sessions featuring thought leadership, real-world case studies, and strategic insights on the evolving landscape of integrated sugar complexes.

Among the key speakers, Anilraj Pise, Managing Director of Raj Process, will present on Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG), highlighting its role as a “game changer” for India’s sugar industry. SV Patil will address current challenges and potential solutions in the ethanol and CBG domains, followed by Sachin Jadhav who will present a CBG plant case study. Binu Panickar will explore the conversion of sugar and distillery bio-waste into bioenergy and biofertilizer.

Further deliberations led by officials from Raj Process and DSTA will touch upon strategic topics like the grain-based conversion of existing sugar feedstock to ensure sustainability, zero steam distillery solutions using MVR and techniques to reduce water consumption during distillation.

The seminar will also examine the future of global sustainable biogas production, hydrogen and carbon capture technologies, CNG compressors, and biogas automation, measurement, and quality control measures for a cleaner, greener planet.

Sugar Industry & India’s March to Bioenergy Expansion

This seminar comes at a crucial time for India’s rapidly expanding bioenergy sector, which is fast positioning itself as a global leader in renewable energy. Backed by strong government policy support and increasing industry commitment, India has already surpassed its ethanol blending target ahead of schedule and initiated 1% CBG blending this financial year, aiming to reach 5% by FY 2028-29. As the world’s second-largest sugarcane producer, India’s sugar industry is a key driver of this transition. Maharashtra, in particular, leads in both sugar and bioenergy production.

Raj Process and DSTA’s technical seminar represents a vital initiative in advancing green energy efforts and reinforcing India’s decarbonisation and net-zero goals.
