Mytrah Energy Bags 100MW Wind Project In Maharashtra

Mytrah Energy the independent power energy company just won the competitive bid for setting up a 100MW wind power project in Maharashtra. The contract was bagged from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).

The other winners of the e-auction include, Adani Green Energy and KCT Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, each with 75MW at a tariff of Rs.2.85 per unit; Inox Wind with 50 MW capacity; Hero Wind Energy Pvt Ltd with 75.6MW at Rs.2.86; and Torrent Power, which bid for 146MW but was awarded 124.4MW capacity at Rs.2.87 per unit.

Six companies had participated in the reverse bidding collectively submitting quotes for a cumulative capacity of 821.8 MW. The bidders were given a choice to reduce the quoted capacity during re-auction. During the e-auction, Mytrah quoted a tariff of Rs.2.86 for 200 MW capacity and won the bid for a capacity of 100 Mw to supply power to the discom.

The auction was first tendered on 21st December 2017 to meet the states non-solar renewable purchase obligation (RPO). The MSEDCL had fixed Rs.3/kWh as the upper tariff ceiling for this tender. For intra-state projects, the individual project size was stated as 5MW at one site with the minimum bid capacity of 25MW. For inter-state projects, the individual project could be least 50MW at one site with the minimum bid capacity of 50MW.

As per the tendered issued the scope of work includes design, supply, procurement and construction, commissioning of the projects. All the required approvals, permits and clearances will be the responsibility of the successful bidder. The successful bidders are to also bear the responsibility of connecting the projects with the transmission facilities. However, they will not be entitled to deemed generation in case of any delay in grant of connectivity.

The MSEDCL issued the Letter of Award on 28 June,2018, followed by the signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) on 16 July. The project is expected to be commissioned within 18 months from the date of execution of PPA.
