Amplus Solar Signs MoU with Andhra Pradesh for Distributed Green Hydrogen Production

Distributed clean energy solutions provider Amplus Solar has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government. This agreement will pave the way for the establishment of multiple decentralized Green Hydrogen production plants in the state.

The firm has set sights on setting up 7.5 KPTA-distributed green hydrogen plants for industrial consumption in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of INR 1500 crores. The projects will entail on-site hydrogen production plants and off-site wind and solar energy plants.

Amplus Solar says it offers long-term profitable and clean energy solutions to commercial and industrial customers through the set up of on-site and off-site renewable plants. It further adds that by setting up on-site green hydrogen production plants, Amplus Solar will help its customer meet their Green Hydrogen requirements more efficiently, and solidify its commitment to India’s net-zero future.

On the signing of the MoU, Sharad Pungalia, MD and CEO, of Amplus Solar said, “We are excited to be a key contributor in achieving India’s goal of being the global Green Hydrogen hub. This MoU is our first step in active participation in the sector’s growth.”

Andhra Pradesh is an industrial hub with a mix of industries like petrochemicals, glass manufacturing, cement, fertilizers, etc. It offers a larger customer base to service and has a good potential for renewable energy generation considering the state’s encouraging geography. He added, “We are committed to deploying our resources in Andhra Pradesh, and we look forward to active support and long-term visibility from the state government, regulatory being one of the key ones. We are confident that with a focused vision, the state can place itself as a growth engine in India’s Green Hydrogen ambitions.”

Amplus owns and manages a portfolio of over 1.4 GW of distributed solar assets and serves more than 350 renowned Indian and multinational firms like Yamaha, Cisco, Amazon, Walmart, Reckitt Benckiser, Schlumberger, Carlsberg, ABB, TVs, Schneider, Qualcomm, Halliburton, GE, Honda among others.

Amplus’ operational plants are expected to cumulatively generate 22 billion units of electricity over their lifetime.

Amplus Solar recently joined hands with EverRenew, an NTC group company, for the establishment of a 200 MWp open-access solar power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The plant is slated to generate close to 450 million units of green electricity in the first year of its operation itself.
