Students From Across India Participate in 6th Electric Solar Vehicle Championship

The 6th edition of Asia’s biggest Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC-2019) which kicked off with a bang at the campus of Chandigarh University Gharuan Punjab, saw students coming in from over 23 states. The student teams from more than 60 Universities, Colleges are taking part in the 5-day long Electric Solar Vehicle Championship which is being jointly organized by Chandigarh University, Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.

ESVC-2019 was inaugurated by Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Government of Punjab along with Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University.

“Solar-powered vehicles are the future of automobile industry and as India is moving in the direction to be a world leader in the field of solar power, it is important to involve our youth to understand the technology and build futuristic products from them” said Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Cabinet Minister, Punjab.

While addressing the students, Vinod Kumar Gupta, President ISIE said, “We need to seriously look into alternate source of energy as the alarming rate of consumption of fossil fuels is not only putting a risk to our future energy needs but also causing serious damage to our environment”.

The event will conclude on 31st of March, and has been buzzing with innovative concepts. The event is exhibiting 6 most innovative and well student designed and fabricated solar and hybrid cars in global Expo by CII in support of Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. The event provides a platform to promote the awareness and skill about E-Mobility and Solar Energy among youth.

Students are given the opportunity to showcase their skill, innovation, research and manufactured vehicle at national and international level. Another attraction apart from the exhibition are the prizes worth Rs. 15.58 lacs which would be given to the winners of the different categories.

“Students are the future of any country and with the help of such technical activities we are trying to create awareness amongst them so that they can be leaders in adopting the energy and become an entrepreneur to develop new products in this field” said Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor.

The five-day championship will see teams competing against each other for the Best Designed Vehicle, Most Efficient Vehicle, Engine & Gear Testing, Endurance Testing, B-Plan Model during the five days of the championship. The main attraction of the championship would be Racing Competition amongst the solar Power Vehicle which would be held on the last day of the event and would be followed by prize distribution ceremony.
