Fresh Deadline From SECI for 10-MW Solar Projects in DRDO’s Kolar site in Karnataka

The solar energy commission of India (SECI) has extended the deadline for the submission of bids in Karnataka’s 10 MW solar project in DRDO premises. The last date of bid submission is extended till 16.08.2018 and the techno-commercial bid opening shall be carried out on 17.08.2018.

Eligible bidders to participate in the tender for Design, Engineering, Supply, Construction, Erection, Testing & Commissioning of 10 MW (AC) Solar PV Power Plant including 10 Years Plant O&M at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) premises, Kolar, Karnataka.

Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) works under the Department of Defence Research and Development of Ministry of Defence. DRDO is working towards enhancing self-reliance in Defence Systems and undertakes design & development leading to the production of world class weapon systems and equipments.

The scope of Supply & Work includes all design & engineering, procurement & supply of equipment and materials, testing at manufacturers works, multi-level inspections, packing and forwarding, supply, receipt, unloading and storage at the site, associated civil works, services, permits, licences, installation and incidentals. The testing and commissioning of 10MW (AC) Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plant and performance demonstration with associated equipment and materials on turnkey basis at DRDO premises, Kolar State: Karnataka and 10 (Ten) years comprehensive operation and maintenance from the date of commissioning or Operational Acceptance, whichever is later.

Karnataka has over 5.1 GW of large-scale solar installations and the country’s biggest solar project pipeline worth over 2 GW in capacity, making it India’s leading renewable state. But, recent land ownership issues and safeguard duty impositions which forced the KREDL to issue a project tender thrice have slowed the pace of developments. The response to this new tender remains of high interest across the industry to gauge the impact of the safeguard duty on the country’s biggest solar state, though the scale of this project may not be the best gauge of the impact. We are willing to predict a fairly competitive bidding scenario with bids at well under Rs 3 per unit.
