Rudra Gas Enterprise to build Rs 30 crore biogas plant in Rajkot

Rudra Gas Enterprise Limited has signed an MoU with the state government of Gujarat to develop a biogas project with a proposed investment of Rs 30 crore. The MoU was inked in Rajkot during the Investment Promotion Activity held alongside the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences.

The proposed biogas project marks a significant step in Rudra Gas Enterprise Ltd’s expansion into the renewable energy sector, with a strong focus on sustainable and circular energy solutions. Scheduled to commence operations in 2027, the biogas project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for approximately 125 people, contributing to local economic development.

The biogas project will be set up at a suitable location and will leverage organic waste streams to produce biogas, a clean and renewable fuel. By converting waste into energy, the facility will support India’s broader goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving waste management practices and enhancing energy security.

Under the terms of the MoU, the Government of Gujarat has committed to providing facilitation support to ensure smooth and timely implementation of the project. This includes assistance in obtaining necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, and statutory clearances from concerned departments, in accordance with prevailing policies and regulations. Such support is expected to significantly ease the project development process and accelerate execution.

The biogas project reflects the long-term vision of Rudra Gas in contributing to India’s clean energy transition through biogas and other sustainable fuel solutions. The biogas initiative also aligns closely with Gujarat’s industrial development strategy, which emphasizes renewable energy, green investments, and employment generation.

Once operational, the biogas plant is expected to strengthen Gujarat’s clean energy infrastructure while demonstrating the commercial and environmental viability of biogas as a key component of India’s renewable energy mix.

Many key players like Reliance Energy, NexGen Energia, Gujarat Gas Ltd etc. have held investments promises to build CBG projects across Gujarat. In 2024, NexGen Energia announced Rs 3,000 crore investment in CBG sector in the state following its discussions with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
