The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) has held that the upcoming Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025 is set to draw over ₹1,800 crore in new investment commitments for India’s bioenergy sector. The three-day event will be held from October 30 to November 1, 2025, at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida.
This year’s expo will spotlight biogas as a key catalyst for India’s green growth, with the IBA highlighting its expanding role in clean energy, transportation, and rural development. The momentum comes amid government initiatives such as the SATAT scheme (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation), establishment of compressed biogas (CBG) plants, and biogas integration into future fuels like methanol and di-methyl ether.
The Bio-Energy Pavilion 2025, organized by the IBA and supported by the MNRE Ministry, will be its largest ever—featuring 30% more exhibitors than last year. It will showcase innovations in waste-to-energy technologies, co-digestion systems, and digital monitoring solutions, with participation from global technology leaders, startups, and policymakers.
IBA President A.R. Shukla said, “India is no longer viewing biogas as just a rural solution. It’s become a key component of our clean energy economy, helping reduce carbon emissions, supporting farmers, fueling transport, and driving the green economy. REI 2025 will highlight the sector’s transition from pilot projects to nationwide impact.”
The expo is expected to host over 60,000 participants from across the world, covering sectors such as solar, wind, hydrogen, e-mobility, and energy storage.
IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia stated, “Biogas is not just about clean energy; it represents economic security and plays a crucial role in the development-led energy transition. With India’s potential to produce over 62 million tons of CBG annually, we can significantly reduce fuel imports, create thousands of rural and urban jobs, and establish a truly circular economy.”
For the IBA, REI 2025 represents a turning point, showcasing India’s progress in bioenergy and reinforcing biogas as central to the nation’s energy transformation and Net Zero ambitions.
