Ravikumar is new CEO of GPS Renewables-BPCL joint venture

Bengaluru based biogas engineering firm GPS Renewables has named Ravikumar SV as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly formed Bharat GPS Bioenergy Private Limited (BGBPL) — a 50:50 joint venture with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). GPS Renewables said that his appointment marks a significant step in the company’s mission to fast-track India’s transition to sustainable bioenergy solutions.

A graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy (Anna University), Ravikumar brings nearly 30 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas sector. His expertise spans project and program management, maintenance operations, engineering leadership, cost control, and execution of large-scale energy projects.

Ravikumar said, “The joint venture between GPS Renewables and Bharat Petroleum will play a big role in scaling up biogas production in India. With over 8-12 projects planned in the initial phase, BGBPL aims to establish a robust compressed biogas (CBG) ecosystem across the country. I look forward to joining the team and leading our efforts to push India’s clean energy goals to the next level.”

Mainak Chakraborty, CEO and Co-Founder of GPS Renewables, stated, ““Ravikumar’s in-depth experience in managing complex and large-scale projects will play a pivotal role in the seamless execution of the Joint Venture’s mandate to set up Compressed Biogas Plants across India. His strong understanding of the oil and gas sector has already given us invaluable insights and practical on-ground solutions. We look forward to working with him to make biofuels mainstream in India.”

His appointment was officially ratified during the inaugural board meeting of BGBPL held on July 2.

The BGBPL joint venture aims to establish a nationwide network of large-scale compressed biogas (CBG) plants, aligning with the Government of India’s vision to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote clean energy alternatives.
