Gensol, Matrix Set To Build Green Hydrogen Project In Maharashtra
GH2 Solar Limited, a leading solar EPC company, has revealed plans to establish a Rs 400 crore green hydrogen electrolyzer manufacturing facility in collaboration with Korea-based AHES Ltd. The electrolyzer plant will be located at Piparsewa in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh.
The facility will initially have an annual capacity of 105 MW, awarded under SECI’s SIGHT program, and will benefit from a Rs 157.5 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) subsidy. GH2 Solar is among the five companies in India selected under the PLI scheme for both green hydrogen production and electrolyzer manufacturing.
The project involves a phased investment plan. The first phase, with an outlay of Rs 100 crore, will establish a 3 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assembly line. The remaining Rs 300 crore will be infused gradually by 2030 to expand electrolyzer production capacity, which is projected to reach 500 MW by 2030, directly supporting India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission target of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
Anurag Jain, Founder and CEO of GH2 Solar, highlighted that global partnerships and government support are enabling the company to introduce advanced decarbonization technologies to India. He added that GH2 Solar would work with academic and skill development institutions to train engineers and technicians, creating a robust workforce for the green hydrogen sector.
Under the joint venture, the company will initially bring advanced alkaline electrolyzer technology to India, with future expansion into PEM and other next-generation systems. To strengthen the project’s design and efficiency, GH2 Solar has partnered with UK-based Rhizome Energy to incorporate sustainable practices suited to Indian conditions.
