The foundation stone for Rs 102.12-crore Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) project has been laid by Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani in Vizianagaram district. The CBG facility will be built at Arasada village in Vangara mandal that is expected to create over 500 local jobs.
Speaking at the event, Sandhya Rani said the upcoming CBG plant will convert agricultural waste, paddy straw, napier grass and cattle manure into bio-gas, supporting both rural development and environmental sustainability. The plant is being developed by PVS Group, led by P. Ramamohan Rao of G. Sigadam in Srikakulam district, under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy – 2024.
Spread across 13.82 acres, it will have a daily processing capacity of 20 tonnes, with construction targeted for completion in 12 months.
Sandhya Rani noted that such projects reflect Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of transforming Andhra Pradesh into a clean energy frontrunner.
She also mentioned that the state government is progressing steadily toward its goals of clean energy expansion, industrial growth and employment generation. She added that the new CBG plant—along with another major project recently launched in the district—marks an important step forward in the region’s development.
“Our government is committed to promoting clean, environment-friendly energy that boosts rural economies,” she said. “Initiatives like this will help position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in clean energy.”
The minister also highlighted the state’s progress in setting up industrial infrastructure, noting that 103 MSME parks are already operational, providing employment to thousands. Recently, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for 55 additional MSME parks involving investments of ₹3,000 crore.
District Collector Ram Sundar Reddy, Rajam MLA Konda Murali Mohan, Vizianagaram MLA Pusapati Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju, and PVS Group representative P. Ramamohan Rao were present at the ceremony.
Andhra Pradesh government has revealed in the past its quest to develop over 500 CBG projects in the state with waste to energy projects coming across districts of the state. Reliance itself has pledged an investment of Rs 65,000 crore in Andhra’s CBG industry.
