EIL awards R&D order to Greenzo Energy for hydrogen electrolyser modular unit

Greenzo Energy Limited has announced that it has won a prestigious Research & Development (R&D) order from Engineers India Limited (EIL). Greenzo claims to be India’s first integrated green hydrogen company.

EIL, a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, awarded the contract after a detailed technical evaluation. The agreement—formalized through a Letter of Intent (LoI) and a purchase order via the Government e-Marketplace platform—covers the supply, site installation, and essential spares of a Hydrogen Electrolyser Modular Unit.

This green hydrogen unit will be set up at EIL’s R&D complex in Sector 16, Gurgaon, Haryana.

The project highlights technological expertise of Greenzo in hydrogen solutions and reflects the government’s growing confidence in homegrown companies to lead India’s clean energy transformation.

This development is closely aligned with the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to position India as a global hub for green hydrogen production and exports. By entrusting Greenzo Energy with this R&D initiative, EIL has reaffirmed the country’s capability to innovate and strengthen its role in the global clean energy economy.

Sandeep Agarwal, Managing Director of Greenzo Energy, stated, “We are truly honored to receive this R&D order from Engineers India Limited, a distinguished PSU that has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s energy infrastructure. This milestone highlights Greenzo Energy’s pioneering position as the country’s first dedicated Green Hydrogen company and reaffirms the trust placed in us by the Government. Our aim is to deliver state-of-the-art, scalable hydrogen electrolyser technologies that are globally competitive.”

He added further, “This initiative goes beyond deploying technology—it represents our commitment to building a sustainable future, reducing import dependency, and positioning India as a frontrunner in the global hydrogen economy.”

As India accelerates its just energy transition, Greenzo Energy won order last October to supply electrolysers for green hydrogen projects 15 MW of green hydrogen facilities across Jamnagar, Kutch, and Bhuj in Gujarat.a
