EESL Tenders for 19 Lakh LED Street Lights Under SLNP

The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has issued a tender for the supply of 1.9 million or 19 lakh LED street lights and other related works at Telangana Gram Panchayat and other various locations across India under the Street Light National Programme (SLNP).

The scope of work for the selected bidders will include the design, manufacture, supply, and testing of the 19 lakh LED street lights along with seven years of warranty maintenance of the lights.

India has received financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Demand Side Energy Efficiency Sector Project. Part of this financing will be used under the contract for this tender for 19 lakh street lights.

The last date for bid submission is June 4, 2020, and the technical bids will be opened on the same date. The date of opening of the price bids will be intimated to all the technically responsive bidders later. A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for May 11, 2020, to address the concerns raised by the prospective bidders. All bidders will also be required to submit a bid security amount of 84 lakh along with their bids.

Financially, the budder should have been profitable in at least two years out of the preceding three completed financial years.

In March, we had reported that after subdued progress in the installation of solar street lights, the Government has extended the second phase of its Atal Jyoti Yojana (AJAY) for a period of one year till March 31, 2021. The move came after the instructions issued by the Finance Ministry’s Expenditure Department on the continuation and extension of public-funded ongoing schemes. Additionally, the President of India has also provided his accord for further continuation of the scheme.

Post extension it was reported that the government-backed EESL, nodal agency implementing the scheme, will continue to implement the scheme as per the earlier approved guidelines. Therefore, the vendors already empaneled by EESL for the scheme will continue to install solar street lights against the sanction for MPLAD funds issued or to be issued by the respective DMs till March 31, 2020, the Ministry had said.
