DESCO Infratech enters CBG sector with key acquisition

Surat-based gas, renewables and power infrastructure developer DESCO Infratech is acquiring Shri Green Agro Energies (SGAEPL), formally marking its entry into the Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector.

Through the acquisition, DESCO gains control of an advanced-stage CBG project, allowing it to enter the market swiftly while avoiding the development and execution risks typically associated with greenfield assets. Significant capital investment has already been made in the CBG project, commercial tie-ups are in place, and biogas production is expected to begin in the near term.

The CBG facility is supported by secured long-term feedstock supply arrangements and established infrastructure, including pipeline connectivity for direct injection into major gas transmission and distribution networks. All key land, statutory and regulatory approvals required for operations have been secured, positioning the project for timely commissioning and scale-up.

DESCO said, “This acquisition is an important milestone in DESCO Infratech’s clean energy roadmap. By integrating a project at an advanced stage of readiness, we are accelerating our expansion into the CBG sector while strengthening our sustainable energy portfolio.”
