DCM Shriram commissions 12-TPD CBG plant at Ajbapur Unit

DCM Shriram Limited has announced that it has successfully commissioned a new Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant at its Ajbapur Unit in Uttar Pradesh that marks a significant step in its sustainability initiatives.

DCM Shriram has disclosed in a regulatory announcement that the CBG plant became operational on March 27, 2025 in the morning. The company also said that the commercial production has commenced immediately on the commissioning.

Earlier, DCM Shriram had informed the exchange about its Board of Directors’ approval for setting up a 12 TPD integrated CBG plant at the Ajbapur Unit, with an investment of ₹131.30 crore.

CBG, derived as a byproduct of the sugar production process, serves as an eco-friendly renewable fuel that contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering reliance on fossil fuels. In addition to strengthening the company’s revenue streams, the initiative aligns with its long-term commitment to sustainability.

With regards to Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri announced that 100 new CBG/biogas plants will be established in the state. Subsequently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also unveiled the state government’s plans to set up compressed biogas plants across the state using cow dung, where the UP government would be offering land for these green energy initiatives.
