Statcon's Rectifiers Set To Be Used In NTPC's Green H2 Project At Leh
Cochin Port Authority wants to invite EoI for a green hydrogen pilot project, anticipated to commence production within a year. “Cochin Port already has the infrastructure and extensive experience in handling liquid cargo, particularly chemicals like ammonia. This positions the port advantageously to develop a bunkering facility for green hydrogen and its derivatives,” said B Kasiviswanathan, Chairman of Cochin Port Authority during the inauguration of a workshop titled.
The workshop was titled “Pathway for a Successful Green Hydrogen Pilot at Cochin Port,” that was organized in collaboration with the Indian Ports Association.
The port is currently exploring various project proposals for green hydrogen pilots and plans to invite suggestions from stakeholders to finalize the pilot project’s scope. Cochin Port Authority, the Indian Ports Association, and industry stakeholders will prioritize collaboration on these proposals.
The ‘Harit Sagar’ – Green Port Guidelines aim for zero carbon emissions by establishing ‘Green Ammonia’ bunkers and refueling facilities at major ports by 2035. Cochin is already connected strongly to both domestic and international shipping routes. The authorities believe that the city can potentially become a “Lighthouse Port” and setting a standard for others in the green hydrogen transition.
Highlighting progress at VO Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) in Tuticorin, Chairman Susanta Kumar Purohit announced that the port plans to finalize the tender for a 60 KW electrolyser, aiming for commissioning in the next quarter.
KR Jyothilal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Energy and General Administration Department in Kerala, highlighted the unique opportunities Kerala offers, noting its intrinsic demand, strategic location, and action plan for developing a hydrogen valley. He emphasized the critical role of affordable, accessible, and reliable renewable power in the success of green hydrogen projects.
The workshop, marking the beginning of the Green Hydrogen Pilot Planning, was attended by over 50 industry partners from 25 institutions, including green hydrogen developers, consumers, electrolyser providers, and multilateral organizations.
